The Our Neighborhood Teaching Team
Our Neighborhood teachers work in a co-teaching team, each working together to create great experiences for the children and families in our program. Our Neighborhood teachers practice a system of continuity of care wherein the children and teachers move together through the classrooms in their primary care groups. Continuity of care is backed by child development research and supports the development of strong relationships. Through those relationships teachers learn and grow with the children. Our Neighborhood teachers are early childhood professional dedicated to ongoing reflective practice and intentional teaching.
Director - Jennifer Slack
I'm dedicated to providing the highest possible quality infant toddler care and education in the Charlottesville area. I grew up with a large family in upstate New York. After receiving a dual degree in Child Development and Business Administration in southern California I moved back east. I have worked with children for my entire life and have always known I wanted a career with young children. I believe that all children have a right to a safe, loving, and educational environment. I participate in our local early childhood community serving as the President of the Central Virginia Association for Early Childhood Education. I am eager to connect with others to develop access to high quality early childhood education for children in Charlottesville and beyond.

Adults who are respectful of children are not just modeling a skill or a behavior, they are meeting the emotional needs of those children, thereby helping to create the psychological conditions for children to treat others respectfully.
Teachers role is to facilitate learning, to promote children's natural curiosity and since of wonder to learn with children about the world.
